Day 3:
New Delhi Sightseeing
After a late breakfast, we will discover Gandhi Smriti, (formerly Birla House) the museum dedicated to Gandhi, Father of the Nation. Then we drive past the imposing India Gate war memorial, then on to a Sikh temple locally called Gurduwara Bangla Sahib. We will visit this spiritual Sikh temple with its shining golden dome dominating the skyline. We will discover the kitchen where you can see how the food is prepared for devotees. Later we will proceed with our lunch in Connaught Place, which is the hub of central Delhi. Later, you will enjoy lunch in the heart of the famous Connaught Place.
After Lunch – We will visit Humayun’s Tomb. Emperor Humayun was the second Mughal Emperor of India. The tomb was built by his widow, Biga Begum (Hajji Begum), in 1569-70, 14 years after his death, at a cost of 1.5 million rupees. It was later used for the burial of various members of the ruling family and contains some 150 graves. It has aptly been described as the necropolis of the Mughal dynasty. After our visit, we will return back to our hotel for a small break before we leave for our welcome dinner. This is a welcome dinner indeed in that you are greeted, seated, and then entertained with a cultural dance and music. This amazing dinner and music event also includes beer and wine as well.

Day 4:
Old Delhi Sightseeing
After breakfast, we will start our morning tour with a visit to 17th century Old Delhi. Visit the Jama Mosque, the royal mosque built by the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan in 1656. We will travel by bicycle rickshaw through the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk, the spine of Old Delhi that houses the spice market and jeweler’s lane and then drive past Red Fort (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Later visit Raj Ghat, the memorial site of Mahatma Gandhi’s cremation in 1948. In black marble, surrounded by lawn and with an eternal flame burning, Raj Ghat remembers the man who is known as the Father of India. Later we will proceed with our lunch.
After lunch, we will visit the UNESCO world heritage site, Qutab Minar. Located in the district of South Delhi, this magnificent monument in red and buff sandstone is the highest tower in India. Built in the early 13th century, the surrounding archaeological area contains funerary buildings, notably the magnificent Alai-Darwaza Gate, the masterpiece of Indo-Muslim art (built in 1311), and two mosques, including the Quwwatu’l-Islam, the oldest in northern India, built of materials reused from some 20 Brahman temples.

Day 5:
Delhi – Udaipur
In the morning, transfer from the hotel to the airport for your flight to Udaipur. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your luxury romantic palace hotel. Travel and Leisure Magazine rated the Taj Lake Palace one of the best hotels in the world. After settling in, take in the magnificent views of the City Palace and Jag Mandir from the hotel’s balconies. This will be followed by a hot lunch.
Taj Lake Palace, which was built in the 17th century. When it was transformed into a hotel, its grand interiors drew the likes of Jacqueline Kennedy, Queen Elizabeth II and the King of Nepal. Occupying a four-acre island in Pichola Lake, Cypress-shaded courtyards, gardens, and fountains dot the graceful white marble complex, which was built facing the east so that residents could pray to the sun god at dawn.
Later in the afternoon, we will enjoy a Cooking class with a well reputed family, enjoy a vast number of culinary delights comprising of authentic hereditary recipes inherited over two centuries from the kitchens of the House of Bedla. You’ll be taken in to their kitchen where the cooking demonstration will commence. You will be shown how each dish is cooked. The evening will culminate in a lovely dining experience where you will be able to enjoy the taste of the freshly prepared meal. Wine and beer is also offered at this gourmet dinner.
The Bedla family has had the distinction of serving their cuisine to the Queen Elizabeth, Jacqueline Kennedy and Pandit Jawarlal Nehru the first prime minister of independent India.

Day 6:
Udaipur & Local Tour
This morning, we will enjoy a sightseeing tour of the City Palace, a conglomeration of buildings added by various Maharanas; the palace manages to retain a surprising uniformity of design. Then we head to the Crystal Gallery, which features a rare collection of Osler’s crystal ordered from England by Maharana Sajjan Singh in 1877. Next, we will visit the Garden of the Maids of Honor locally called Saheliyon ki Bari, which has retained all its traditional charm. It was designed in the early 18th Century specifically for ladies.
After lunch, we will return back to our hotel for leisure time or an opportunity to you use the spa or pool facilities before we leave for our evening activity.
In the early evening embark on a boat cruise on the placid, mystical waters of Lake Pichola with the sun setting behind the hills. Later dinner at the open air Sunset Terrace at the Fateh Prakash Palace, which is over 400 years old.

Day 7:
Udaipur – Pushkar & Celebrate Camel Fair
After breakfast we will proceed to Pushkar. Along the way you will experience the country with an opportunity to see camel carts, trucks, cows, buffalos and more. Arrive and check into your hotel. Later this afternoon we will visit the local market of Pushkar and along the way we will also visit one of the major thriving temples of Lord Brahma, which can be identified by its red spire and by the image of Hans (the swan considered sacred to Lord Brahma). This temple was built with marble and is decorated with silver coins. This evening you will enjoy a beautiful dinner at the campsite.

Day 8:
Pushkar & Camel Festival
Today we will take part in the Pushkar Camel festival. We will watch village people buying and selling their livestock, which includes camels, cows, sheep and goats. The women go to the stalls, full of bracelets, clothes, textiles and fabrics. This festival is colourful and festive and is enjoyed at the same time each year.
Pushkar Festival is one of the world’s largest camel fairs. Thousands of people attend the festival each year. Livestock is bought and sold and stalls abound with jewelers and textiles. The festival begins each year with a camel race followed by music and exhibitions. Day 9:
Pushkar – Jaipur
After a leisurely start, we drive to Jaipur. The city of Jaipur owes its names, foundation and its careful planning to the great warrior, astronomer Maharaja Jai Singh II. In 1727, with Mughal power on the wane, Jai Singh decided to move down from his hillside fortress at nearby Amber to a new site on the plains. He laid out the city, with its surrounding walls and six rectangular blocks, according to the principles of town planning set down in Shilpa Shastra, an ancient Hindu treatise on architecture. Arrive and check in at your hotel.
After lunch, the afternoon is free for you to spend at your leisure.Evening Dinner- In the land of Maharajas at Dera Amer, we are greeted at the sprawling lawns by a Royal Military Brass Band which welcome us to our evening dinner in the dessert. During dinner we are treated to Rajasthani music and dance while we enjoy a home-cooked dinner. The camp is situated behind the hills of the famous Amer Fort and is a gorgeous setting to unwind from the day. This is as close to the Indian wilderness you can get without a safari, a memorable evening ahead as this fairy tale like space is decorated with lanterns and lit by the bonfire to create this magical setting.

Day 10:
Jaipur & Pink City City
In the morning after breakfast, enjoy an excursion to Amber Fort Palace by Jeeps. Along the way, we will have a photo stop at Hawa Mahal, the ornamental facade of the “Palace of Winds” which is a prominent landmark in Jaipur.
Amber Fort is the classic romantic Rajasthani Fort Palace. Its construction was started by Man Singh I in 1592, and completed by his descendent Jai Singh I. Its forbidding exterior belies an inner paradise where a beautiful fusion of Mughal and Hindu styles finds its ultimate expression. Next visit City Palace, a delightful blend of Mughal and traditional Rajasthani architecture. The City Palace sprawls over one-seventh of the area in the walled city. Also, visit Jantar Mantar. This is the largest and the best preserved of the five observatories built by Jai Singh II in different parts of the country. The observatory consisting of outsizes astronomical instruments is still in use.After lunch, visit Jaipur’s flourishing industry area, which is as old as the city itself. Jaipur is world-famous for its beautiful linens and other clothing items and souvenirs. Several hand-picked shops await you to enjoy browsing through the beautiful items there. The remainder of the afternoon is free for your personal activities.

Day 11:
Jaipur – Ranthambore and Tigers
After breakfast, we will leave for Ranthambore a National Park, the true den of tigers, near the confluence of the lakes namely Padam Talab, Raj Bagh Talab and Milak Talab. Apart from the Bengal Tiger, other animals that inhabit the park are Sloth Bears, Jackals, Marsh Crocodiles, Leopards, Gazelles, Indian Hares, Porcupines, Jungle Cats, Sambhars, Chinkaras, Mongoose, Nilgais, Wild Boar and Monitor Lizards. Birds can also be seen in huge numbers here. Arrive and enjoy your lunch. The afternoon is free to be spent as you wish.
The Ranthambore National Park is equally rich in flora. Trees like Banyan, Dhok, Mango, and Pipal are in abundance. Day 12:
Ranthambore National Park & Game Driving
Your day will begin with pre-dawn coffee and biscuits before setting off on an early morning game drive in search of the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. After, return to the hotel for your breakfast.
Later, if time permits, we will discover a craft village. It is an intrinsic part of the socio-cultural landscape and offers an insightful peek into life, as it exists in Ranthambore. Return to hotel for lunch.
In the late afternoon, we will return to the park for another game drive, ending our day just before sunset. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 13:
Ranthambore – Fatehpur Sikri – Agra & Indian Railway
After early breakfast, we are transferred to the train station to board our first Indian railway trip to Bharatpur.
Indian Railway, the largest employer in the world, employees nearly 1.5 million people. The history of Indian Railway in India began in the mid-nineteenth century. The core of the pressure for building railways in India came from London. In 1848, there was not a single kilometer of railway line in India. A British engineer, Robert
Maitland Brereton, was responsible for the expansion of the railways from 1857 onwards. Arrive in Bharat, transfer to our coach and drive to Agra. On our way, we will visit Fatehpur Sikri, built by Emperor Akbar in 1569. This was the old capital of the Moghuls, which was abandoned after 15 years due to the scarcity of water. See the graceful buildings including the Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal & other palaces that are still preserved in their original glory. Later continue to Agra and check in at your hotel followed by lunch.
After lunch, enjoy some time at your leisure to relax before we leave for our evening activity.
In the evening enjoy a fascinating play that depicts the saga of love and a memorable journey into the history of Taj Mahal. The drama portrays the Mughal era in the 16th century. It is series of plays depicting the true and immortal love of Shahjahan for Mumtaz Mahal, his beautiful wife;
the lavish lifestyle of Mughal era; and the hardship of the artisans who worked for 22 years to create the most precious specimen of craftsmanship. Day 14:
Agra & Taj Mahal
We will start our day at sunrise with a visit to one of the most incredible monuments ever built in the world. The Taj Mahal is a monument of love built between 1631 and 1648 by order of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife. The Taj Mahal is the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage.
After breakfast, we will visit Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site with imposing walls of red sandstone. The fort is almost two miles long and contains palaces, audience halls, and mosques.
After lunch, we will visit a renowned marble factory to experience the artistry involved in the making of fine inlaid stonework. The translucent marble of the region is expertly crafted to create stunning works of art, both practical and for display. The craftsmen of Agra are famous for this exquisite marble-inlay work. This artistic skill has been passed down for generations and has made the city of Agra, and its monuments famous. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 15:
Agra - Delhi – Varanasi
After breakfast we will drive from Agra to Delhi and board your afternoon flight to the holy city of Varanasi. Varanasi is the religious capital of Hinduism and a most memorable and intriguing city. Formerly known as Banaras during the British Raj, Varanasi is home to one of the wrolds most time honoured and mysterious cultures, which dates back 5000 years. This amazing city has been featured in many movies about India, but nothing prepares you for the magical energy you feel as you discover this ancient city. Its present name is derived from the fact that the city is at the confluence of the Varuna and Asi Rivers. Arrive and transfer to our hotel.
In the early evening, we will embark on the boat ride of a lifetime as we glide along the mystic Ganges River to see the devotional ceremony of Aarti performed on the ceremonious and elaborate ghats or steps of the Ganges. You will hear the enchanting prayers chanted throughout this area as well as the rhythmic drumming and ringing of the temple bells. This is a memorable experience of learning about the wheel of life and death and how both are celebrated in the ritualistic ceremonies conducted in this ancient city.
Later we head back to the hotel for dinner.

Day 16:
Varanasi & Ganges
In the early morning we leave to board our boat to see the sunrise over the Ganges. You will also witness the people of the area bathing in the Ganges to purify themselves as it is believed that the water of the Ganges can wash away your sins. This can be a very spiritually uplifting experience as you see the devotion of this ritual and the commonality in which the people live and thrive. Life on the Ghats is bound in an endless string of rituals; ever-changing aspects of the river & the wide landscape across have fascinated visitors from all over the world. We will also pay a quick visit to Mother Teresa’s missionary. Return to the hotel for breakfast.
In the afternoon visit Sarnath, the site where Buddha preached his first sermon. After attaining enlightenment at Bodh Gayathe, Buddha went to Sarnath and it was here that he preached his first discourse in the deer park to set in motion the ‘Wheel of the Dharma’. It is one of the holiest sites as in this place, the stream of the Buddha’s teaching first flowed. Sarnath was a renowned school of learning from 16th century BC to 12th century AD. Visit the ruins, the stupa, the Buddhist temple & the museum.

Hi Mandira, this trip, as you may recall, had been planned and revised over the past year. Thanks to your and Nazir's efforts, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip to India and Nepal. Nazir's suggestion of finishing our trip in Nagarkot was especially appreciated, we viewed the sunrise over the Himalayas from our balcony! Our guide, Mr. Mustafa Shah, made our visit to Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore and Jaipur a very relaxed and pleasant experience. He included our entire tour group to partake in a very colourful Holi celebration, something we'll never forget! Our private tour in Kathmandu was great! Our Kathmandu native guide, Deepak, was very welcoming and we enjoyed our time learning about Nepal, past and present. Everyone we met, associated with Explore India, was professional and very courteous. Our return flight from Kathmandu to Delhi was delayed yet Deezam (sorry if misspelled) was there to pick us up and got us back in time for our flight home later that night. Thank you, Nazir. Our entire experience in India has been amazing. You have some very special people working for you. And I sincerely hope that they are appreciated. In particular, I have to mention Raj and Arvind. As you know, Shirley and I arrived two days ahead of the rest of the tour group. We met with Raj who became like a big brother to us. With our safety in mind, Raj continually checked on our well-being, made some terrific suggestions including restaurants and even arranged for us to meet with a numerologist, which had been on our wish list for India. He was always asking us if we were happy and if there was anything else he could do for us. He arranged taxis, made some excellent suggestions and went out of his way to make our dreams a reality. We felt very safe. Arvind was an excellent guide. He gave 150% to everything he did. There is no doubt in my mind that this part of our tour would've been entirely different and not nearly as spectacular had it been anyone different. Arvind was more than a tour guide. He educated us on the history of India, the poverty, spirituality, rituals, food, the different religions and much much more. His day was never over. He was always planning more than was included on our agenda. Surprises and extra activities – he was a very generous man. Very trustworthy and honest. he managed to please everyone on the tour which is no easy feat. I cannot say enough about Arvind. He made our whole trip. Another guide worthy of praise is Lo Chen on the Darjeeling portion of the trip. A very gentle and caring man. He was so amenable to suggestions and also went the extra mile to show us the highlights of this part of the country. Very knowledgeable. I had a fantastic trip. I loved India and I hope one day to return. It has a very special place in my heart. Hi, Nazir. Sorry, I haven't written sooner but I have had a bad cold since returning from our amazing India trip. Both Stuart and I had a wonderful experience as it was much more than either of us expected. As our guide Yajure explained to us, India has been "cleaning itself up". What a wonderful surprise. Delhi being a bustling mega city, was a joy to experience in the few days we were there. Our bus rides, while exciting due to the different "vehicles, animals and people on the roads, made our journeys very colorful. Yajure was a wonderful, generous and knowledgeable guide. He is a walking encyclopedia. He was extremely accommodating and adaptable at a moments notice. Seeing the Taj Mahal, Buddha's birthplace, the Red Fort, the Ganges in Varanasi and of course the city of Jaipur brought the trip to life. It was all mesmerizing. Your colleague Rajeev in Delhi was very helpful and kind and protective of us. Although he was mourning the loss of his dear father, he made himself available to us. So that's it Nazir. My apologies for the delay in writing, but I had a rough re-entry to Canada. This was the worst case of jet-lag I’ve ever had, and also a number of things demanded my attention upon our return. I don’t want to let any more time go by before saying, though, that India exceeded our expectations on all fronts, including the service of our tour guide, Raj. Over the years we’ve been to many countries and this was by far the richest travel experience of our lives. India's diversity of religions, languages and cultures is unparalleled in any other part of the world we’ve visited. The people were gracious and the sights amazed us everywhere we went. Hi Nazir; We arrived in Calgary late Wednesday. Needless to say we are tired. We had a memorable time in India to say the least! On TV one sees programs about India however experiencing it was another thing! One cannot image the density of people without experiencing it firsthand. It was truly shocking. Explore India provides Canadians an opportunity to see it for themselves. Arvind was a great tour leader; his knowledge about the country, its customs, its people, is astounding. Raj, your man on the ground, went out of his way to help us. As you know we stayed an extra day in Delhi at the end of our stay because of poor plane connections. As our booking for the Taj Ambassador Hotel did not work out, he arranged our stay at the Pride Plaza Hotel and provided a car and driver to allow us to see the city. This turned out to be a much better than if we had stayed at the Taj Ambassador as the new hotel was close to the airport saving travel time at departure. Lochem (sp?), your local guide for Darjeeling had exceptional knowledge of the area, its history and the people. Without him much of the local folklore would have been missed. There were two surprises we encountered while in India. The first was the road condition between the airport and Darjeeling; the lengthy travel time and being so winding. Unfortunately Carolyn got motion sickness throwing up stomach acid within the vehicle making it uncomfortable for other passengers. Returning was much better as she took Gravol that settled her stomach. In the end we all laughed about it. The second surprise was the India government announcement cancelling the 500 and 1000 rupee notes the day prior to leaving. We got stuck with a small quantity of rupees that we could not use. This is not a big deal but wondered if you had a use for them. Perhaps they could be given to an Indian charity? If it could be done let us know where to send them. The itinerary for each leg (six) of the tour were appropriate providing us with a good overview of India. The quality of the hotels was excellent providing an evening refuge to recuperate, collect our thoughts, and share with friends. Transportation arrangements were excellent; Arvind did a superb job dealing with airport arrangements for air travel within India. Security had recently been stepped up at the airports making for long lineups. Arvind managed to shorten them with his knowledge and relationships with security personnel. The quality of buses used for transportation between Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, and Jaipur were excellent. As you are aware driving in India is somewhat different than driving in North America. Road quality can be very poor, vehicle density is very high, roads go through many towns, people and animals share the road, and drivers don’t necessarily obey traffic laws; such as creating five lanes of traffic on a two lane road.. The bus drivers had to deal with these situations being mindful of our travel deadlines and our safety. They did an excellent job! It may be a while before we travel to India again, however we would definitely consider Explore India first for making our travel/tour arrangements when we do. Our kindest regards

Val and I had a wonderful time in India. We thought the tour was great and we managed to see a lot in the given time. The guides and drivers were very professional, knowledgeable and pleasant to be with. Our guide was adaptable when we wanted to change certain aspects of the program.The hotels we stayed in were fantastic. It was nice coming back to them after a day of touring. Highlights for me included Pushkar, Varanasi and the elephant and camel rides. I thought there was a good balance of city/rural life, history, culture and modern information and sites.

We have just returned home from the 10 days Explore India tour Magical India with unforgettable experiences and truly favorable memories. Any initial reservations or uncertainties related to travelling in such a mysterious land were quickly relieved after we received a surprise but welcoming and reassuring phone call while registering on arrival at our airport hotel in Delhi at 11:55 pm from Explore India's Head of Operations. Despite using our own travel plans to and from the tour, Explore India representatives continually provided full support to our individual travel plans right through to our arrival at the Delhi airport for our departure flight. Our tour guide was extremely effective in preparing our group with extensive historical and current information on all the amazing sites we visited. Despite travelling in a country well known for its chaos and unpredictabilities, the tour was extremely well organized and effectively delivered. Accommodations were consistently first class. Meals were of high quality, with an ample variety for all tastes. Transportation was first class with a fully modern bus operated by a skilled driver. All tours to the many amazing world-class venues were conducted with professional precision. Kudos to Nazir, Rajeev and Arvind of Explore India for providing us with an exceptionally favorable, and memorable travel experience.

I am sorry we took so long in replying to you. I came down with Delhi Belly after I got back to Canada!!!! We want to thank you for the most amazing trip of our life. It was so beautifully arranged. First of all Mandira thank you so much for all of our pre-flight information, booking our seats together and everything else you did to make this trip unforgettable. Nazir: Your company is the absolute best for touring India. The hotels we stayed at were super, except I have very long legs and beds that are about 2 feet off the ground and toilets that are low were a little challenging!! I managed but was extremely happy to get back to my very high bed! The food and care we received from Rajan greeting us at the airport, 4 very tired and shell-shocked individuals to taking us safely to our hotel. His presence throughout was a comfort. The best part was Ravi. What a very knowledgeably, thoughtful and considerate guide. He became a part of our family very quickly. He was always helping Mom, Marg Ann and it truly felt like we always being taken care of. Ravi anticipated that we needed to make bathroom breaks and lunch breaks on our trip. I am a diabetic and needed to eat regularly. He made sure the places were good for us to have a break and eat something. He herded us like cats through the various sites, helped us to get to an ATM and cross the street together in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. I feel like I should get a t-shirt made saying” I survived crossing a street in India!” When he took us to our various shopping places he left us alone to do our stuff but if we needed an opinion or advice we could ask him. The saddest part was him leaving us in Kathmandu. Niraj was great, a young Ravi in training. We completely understood but we did feel a little lost. We were split up during our flight back to Delhi and my husband never got any lunch on Jet. Ravi would never have let any of that happen. I have recommended your company and the tour to everyone. My brother in Malaysia is interested. We wish you great success in all that you do and would like to tour with you again. I wish that you would work in other areas as I would trust your company any day. I was a little apprehensive at first but your company more than delivered. Your brother, Mansoor in India was our money exchanger to anything that was needed in-between. Explore India was awesome both in Canada and India. Our friend Colin was a Buddhist Monk and had helped the Drepung Gomang Monastery in Karnataka. They wanted to build a stupa for him and when I spoke to our friend he said that I could courier the ashes to the Monastery. I had no problems taking it out of Canada, unfortunately the no couriers would handle the urn. I spoke with Ravi and he spoke with Mansoor and I had 2 options. Neither of which were viable. So Colin made the trip with us to Kathmandu. With Ravi and Niraj’s suggestions we released him into the Ganges at Pashupatimath Temple. We were very happy to accomplish this. The Monastery has also said it was exactly what Colin would have wanted. I tell you this so that you can understand the depth of the compassion of your employees, now friends. Hello Nazir We had a WONDERFUL and AMAZING trip to India. Our accommodations, travel and tour were first class. Our Travel Guide Harry was the best. He was informative, knowledgeable and spontaneous and that was so much fun. His extensive knowledge and pride in his country was truly evident and exemplary; he was also beyond considerate as he assisted my husband when he fell ill and arranged a taxi to take him back to the hotel and to top it all off he called him later to reassure me all was well as I continued on the afternoon portion of the tour. Best guide ever. As we arrived a day late we only met Rajeev Sharma for a short visit but he arranged everything from the airport on our arrival so we could be with the group for a marvelous meal, loved his choice. He was a kind and efficient manager who went above and beyond. Our extra day was organized by Rajeev who insured that we saw everything the group had seen on the day we missed.
