Arrive In India (New Delhi)
Welcome to Delhi, a city that bridges two different worlds. Old Delhi, once the capital of Islamic India, is a labyrinth of narrow lanes lined with crumbling Havelis and formidable mosques. In contrast, the imperial city of New Delhi created by the British Raj is composed of spacious, tree-lined avenues and imposing government buildings.

Day 3:
Old Delhi | Rickshaw Ride | Jama Mosque | Humayun’s Tomb & Hindu Temple
After a leisurely start, we take a tour through Delhi. We begin exploring Old Delhi by visiting the Jama Mosque, the royal mosque built by the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan in 1656. Then we ride a bicycle rickshaw through the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk, the spine of Old Delhi that houses the spice market and jeweler’s lane. Next, we drive past the Red Fort (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). We also visit Rajghat, the site of Mahatma Gandhi’s final journey.
Later proceed to visit Humayun’s Tomb, which was built in 1565 A.D., nine years after Humayun’s death, by his senior widow wife. The most notable features are the garden squares (Chahar bagh) with pathways water channels, centrally located well proportional mausoleum topped by double dome inside the walled enclosure. There are several graves of Mughal rulers located inside the walled enclosure, and from here in 1857 A.D, Lieutenant Hudson had captured the last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah II.
Later visit India Gate (the war memorial dedicated to the martyrs of World War I), The President’s Palace – formerly Viceroy’s Palace, the Parliament House, and the Secretariat buildings – an interesting blend of Victorian and 20th-century architecture,

Day 4:
New Delhi | Jaipur – The Pink City
After breakfast, drive to Jaipur, known all over the world as the Pink City. Jaipur will amaze you with the architecture and planning of both its old and new cities. Experience how the city explodes into a kaleidoscope of colors and sounds at each and every corner. Jaipur is an excellent place to shop for textiles, rugs, and designer jewelry.
In the evening, enjoy an authentic dining experience with a cultural Rajasthani traditional dance and music performance.

Day 5:
Jaipur | Amber Fort | & City Palace
In the morning, we visit the magnificent Amber Fort, situated in the outskirts of Jaipur.
Later, we proceed for a city tour and stop for a photo at the Hawa Mahal, the ‘Palace of the Winds.’ It was built to allow the palace’s royal ladies to watch the grand processions along the main street discretely.
Next, we visit the City Palace Museum, which has a priceless collection of antiques, costumes, and armory of the Mughals and Rajputs, including swords of different shapes and sizes. Next, we continue to the Jantar Mantar Observatory, built in the early 1700s by Maharaja Jai Sing II, the great warrior-astronomer to which this city owes its name. Dinner and overnight at the hotel

Day 6:
: Jaipur | Ranthambore (approx.. 4 hrs. drive)
After leisurely breakfast, drive towards the Ranthambore National Park, a true den of tigers. Near the confluence of the lakes, namely Padam Talab, Raj Bagh Talab, and Milak Talab. Apart from the Bengal Tiger, other wildlife in the Park include the Sloth Bear, Jackals, Marsh Crocodile, Leopard, Gazelle, Indian Hare, Porcupines, Jungle Cat, Sambhar, Chinkara, Mongoose, Nilgai, Wild Boar, and Monitor Lizards. The park is also equally rich in flora trees like Banyan, Dhok, Mango, and Pipal. The landscape of the park is dominated by shallow lakes, gentle slopes, and plateaus. Day 7:
Ranthambore | In Search of Bengal Tiger
Your day will begin with pre-dawn coffee and biscuits before setting off on an early morning game drive by private jeep with an accompanying naturalist in search of the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. Return to your hotel for breakfast.
Time permitting: visit the women’s craft village to see the unique talents of displaced villagers used to generate income for this region. What started out in a tiny room in the Sherpur village, has now become an organization that has provided new means of livelihood to these villages.
In the late afternoon, we will return to the park for another game drive, ending our day just before sunset.

Day 8:
Ranthambhore – Agra (by train: 0700-0925 hrs.) Enroute visit Fatehpur Sikri
After early breakfast, we are transferred to the train station to board our first Indian railway trip to Bharatpur.
Indian Railway, the largest employer in the world, employees nearly 1.5 million people. The history of Indian Railway in India began in the mid-nineteenth century. The core of the pressure for building railways in India came from London. In 1848, there was not a single kilometer of railway line in India. A British engineer, Robert
Maitland Brereton, was responsible for the expansion of the railways from 1857 onwards. Arrive in Bharat, transfer to our coach and drive to Agra. On our way, we will visit Fatehpur Sikri, built by Emperor Akbar in 1569. This was the old capital of the Moghuls, which was abandoned after 15 years due to the scarcity of water. See the graceful buildings including the Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal & other palaces that are still preserved in their original glory. Later continue to Agra and check in at your hotel followed by lunch.
After lunch, enjoy some time at your leisure to relax before we leave for our evening activity.
In the evening enjoy a fascinating play that depicts the saga of love and a memorable journey into the history of Taj Mahal. The drama portrays the Mughal era in the 16th century. It is series of plays depicting the true and immortal love of Shahjahan for Mumtaz Mahal, his beautiful wife; the lavish lifestyle of Mughal era; and the hardship of the artisans who worked for 22 years to create the most precious specimen of craftsmanship. Day 9:
Visit The Mesmerizing Taj Mahal, Agra Fort & Mohabbat The Taj Show
Early morning Tea, coffee, cookies will be serviced in the hotel lobby, followed by our visit one of the most incredible monuments ever built in the world, Taj Mahal. The monument of love was built between 1631 and 1648 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife. The Taj Mahal is the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the world’s most highly revered masterpieces. Return to hotel for breakfast.
Later we will continue our sightseeing tour with a visit to Agra Fort, which was built by Emperor Akbar in 1565; additions were made up until his grandson, Shah Jahan. Day 11:
Delhi - Kathmandu (Flight 6E45/0715-0920 hrs.)
This morning you will be transferred to Delhi’s International airport to board a flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you are met by our representative and then transfer to hotel.
This afternoon, proceed for a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu city including Durbar Square, the hub of Nepal’s traditional culture and arts. Explore the historic and artistic temples, monuments, and mountain views.
Later, proceed to Thamel on the rickshaw, the best ways to explore narrow streets of Kathmandu and its little alleys with local residential areas. Stroll through nearby markets, where you can admire the work of local Thanka painting. Thamel also acts as the pre-base camp for mountaineers. It boasts a wide range of mountaineering gear shops, foreign money exchange booths, mobile phone shops, pubs, clubs, and nightlife, along with numerous guest houses.

Kathmandu

After breakfast, we begin the sightseeing tour of Pashupatinath and Bouddhanath.
Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Pashupatinath Temple is one of the four most important religious sites in Asia for Shiva’s devotees. Built-in the 5th century.
The largest temple complex in Nepal stretches on both sides of the Bagmati River, considered holy by Hindus. The main pagoda style temple has a gilded roof, four sides covered in silver, and wood carvings of the finest quality. Temples dedicated to several other Hindu and Buddhist deities surround the temple of Pashupatinath.
Bouddhanath Stupa which is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Nepal. Built sometime around the 14th century, the huge meditative monument has been created just after the passing of the Buddha. The huge offering site quickly becomes a focal point of worship and offering in the area.
Later, proceed to Patan, the oldest of all the three cities of Kathmandu valley. It is best known for its artistic heritage. It is probably one of the oldest Buddhist cities in the world. Day 13:
Kathmandu – Nagarkot (28Kms / approx. 1 ½ Hrs)
After breakfast, drive to Nagarkot, en route visiting Bhaktapur Village, also known as the ‘City of Devotees’, the ‘City of Culture,’ the ‘Living Heritage,’ and ‘Nepal’s Cultural Gem.’ It is one of the 3 royal cities in Nepal. Lying along the ancient trade route between India and Tibet, Bhaktapur is surrounded by mountains and provides a magnificent view of the Himalayas.
Post lunch, continue to Nagarkot.
On arrival in Nagarkot, check-in at the hotel.Nagarkot is renowned for its spectacular sunrise view of the Himalayas. It is famous and one of the best spots to view Mount Everest as well as other snow-topped peaks of the Himalayan range of eastern Nepal – It also offers an excellent view of the famous river valley to the east. Harry went above and beyond with his service to ensure we gained a clear appreciation of the beautiful sights and sounds. Good Morning Nazir, Thank you for an amazing adventure!! My experience in India would not have been the same without your excellent trip planning and the caring, knowledgeable men you have guiding us in India. Every day was packed with things to see and so much to learn about the culture and history of the area and its people. Arvind Sharma is extremely passionate about his country and shared so much with us. He looked after every detail and went out of his way to ensure that each of us in his care was looked after and happy. Our bus driver and his assistant were second to none, always smiling, helping us in any way that they could. I was just editing our Indian photos and thought I should write you a few words of thanks for a great trip. I can't start to imagine the amount of time and effort that went into organizing and creating such a successful and wonderful experience, and I know you played a major part in that. Your negotiations with the Indian government, prior to our trip, to simplify the visa process and your many flights ahead of us, during the trip , to make sure things flowed smoothly were recognized and much appreciated. The India trip was the longest and most expensive trip we have taken and we knew it would be special. Everything, from the accommodations, food and experiences exceeded our expectations. Many of us commented during the trip "it just keeps getting better". This was not just intended to be a sightseeing trip but a trip to experience India, and we experienced things that most people visiting India would never experience. The three days in Kashmir was a lovely way to end the trip. It is a beautiful part of the country and quite different from the rest of India. In spite of it's proximity to Pakistan, heavy security and strong military presence, people seemed happy, relaxed, peaceful and very friendly. We felt very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Thanks again Nazir for helping make this a trip of a lifetime. Looking forward to seeing you again on future trips.

My husband, Allan Mayer and I, would like to commend you for your extremely well-planned and well-executed Impressions of India tour Nov. 14-30, 2017 The tour was a very nice balance between the frenetic urban pace of New Delhi, with its 16 million people, and more relaxed settings like Varanasi, the sacred city of the Hindus; and the bucolic wilderness of the Ranthambore national park. The Taj Mahal was, as I expected, magnificent (post-card India). But the images stamped in my mind are the unexpected ones --- the Bengal tiger stalking his prey, four crocodiles sunning themselves along the river bank, a huge male sambur deer rolling on his back taking a mud bath, late-night cremation ceremonies along the Ganges River in Varanasi, an Indian holy man with uncut hair and his face smeared with human ashes from the crematoriums, sending offerings of marigolds and lit candles into the River Ganges at night for the health and safety of our loved ones, visiting a laundry where clothes are cleaned by being stomped by people's feet in a big tub, a sacred cow lying on the tracks right in the middle of a train station in Agra. The hotels on the tour were first class; the food excellent. The traffic in India is like nothing we have ever experienced (even with a visit to China last year). So we would like to specially commend our excellent drivers Assif in Delhi, and Malik on the rest of the trip, who got us through hair-raising situations unscathed. The tour guides, Raj in Delhi, and particularly Sandeep on the remainder of the tour, were great. We felt very lucky to have someone as exceptionally erudite as Sandeep, working towards a PhD, as our guide. He is so knowledgeable and is able to bring Indian history and Hindu religion alive with his amusing stories of Mogul rulers, other invaders, and gods and deities. He is very patient and adept at answering standard tourist questions about subjects like sacred cows, the caste system, and why there are swastikas on the old temples. He has a good sense of humour, is warm and personable, relates to people well, and helped to build a rapport among our small group by taking group photos for us and having everyone exchange emails so we could keep in touch (including with him). Because of him, the trip felt like travelling with friends. We would certainly recommend this tour to our friends, and perhaps return to see other parts of India with your company.

Hi Nazir; We arrived in Calgary late Wednesday. Needless to say we are tired. We had a memorable time in India to say the least! On TV one sees programs about India however experiencing it was another thing! One cannot image the density of people without experiencing it firsthand. It was truly shocking. Explore India provides Canadians an opportunity to see it for themselves. Arvind was a great tour leader; his knowledge about the country, its customs, its people, is astounding. Raj, your man on the ground, went out of his way to help us. As you know we stayed an extra day in Delhi at the end of our stay because of poor plane connections. As our booking for the Taj Ambassador Hotel did not work out, he arranged our stay at the Pride Plaza Hotel and provided a car and driver to allow us to see the city. This turned out to be a much better than if we had stayed at the Taj Ambassador as the new hotel was close to the airport saving travel time at departure. Lochem (sp?), your local guide for Darjeeling had exceptional knowledge of the area, its history and the people. Without him much of the local folklore would have been missed. There were two surprises we encountered while in India. The first was the road condition between the airport and Darjeeling; the lengthy travel time and being so winding. Unfortunately Carolyn got motion sickness throwing up stomach acid within the vehicle making it uncomfortable for other passengers. Returning was much better as she took Gravol that settled her stomach. In the end we all laughed about it. The second surprise was the India government announcement cancelling the 500 and 1000 rupee notes the day prior to leaving. We got stuck with a small quantity of rupees that we could not use. This is not a big deal but wondered if you had a use for them. Perhaps they could be given to an Indian charity? If it could be done let us know where to send them. The itinerary for each leg (six) of the tour were appropriate providing us with a good overview of India. The quality of the hotels was excellent providing an evening refuge to recuperate, collect our thoughts, and share with friends. Transportation arrangements were excellent; Arvind did a superb job dealing with airport arrangements for air travel within India. Security had recently been stepped up at the airports making for long lineups. Arvind managed to shorten them with his knowledge and relationships with security personnel. The quality of buses used for transportation between Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, and Jaipur were excellent. As you are aware driving in India is somewhat different than driving in North America. Road quality can be very poor, vehicle density is very high, roads go through many towns, people and animals share the road, and drivers don’t necessarily obey traffic laws; such as creating five lanes of traffic on a two lane road.. The bus drivers had to deal with these situations being mindful of our travel deadlines and our safety. They did an excellent job! It may be a while before we travel to India again, however we would definitely consider Explore India first for making our travel/tour arrangements when we do. Our kindest regards

I have actually been travelling almost non-stop since getting back from India, and this is the first opportunity I have had to respond with about my trip to India. First of all, it was the trip of a lifetime and I would definitely recommend it to friends. The Kashmiri leg in particular was a highlight. The people and scenery and ambiance were wonderful. Like everything, there is always some room for improvement, and I offer these thoughts to you as you strive to accommodate the needs and wishes of your future clients.June and I agreed that this trip was about 88% successful, but now that I am back and looking at my pictures and reading my diary, I would peg it closer to 95%. I felt that ExploreIndia had our best interests at heart. I am not a fussy or nervous traveller, but when travelling in such a colourful, chaotic and crowded country, I needed to feel safe and comfortable, and I did. Thank you to Mr Joshi for looking after my misplaced plane tickets and insurance policy. He was a very attentive agent at all times. An item that got left behind in our last hotel was the colour copy of the day-to-day itinerary, with the photos at the top of each page. I would love to have another copy as a souvenir if possible, via physical mail. Thank you so much for making this trip possible for me and also for providing fodder for my ongoing writing career.
