The Shikara communities have lived for centuries on the Dal, so complete is their infrastructure on the lake that they never have to step on land! Doctors, tailors, and bakers – you’ll see them all in wooden shops on the lake, near veggie gardens and acres of floating land.
Tonight we will enjoy a traditional Kashmiri Wazwan, a multi-course dinner, hosted by my family at a private residence where we will also enjoy some cultural programs. The preparation of this dinner is considered an art and a point of pride in Kashmiri culture.

Your ‘Mughals, Maharajas & Holy Ganges’ tour was simply amazing and far exceeded all our expectations. Everything was very well organized, our guides were exceptional, the food was outstanding, the culture and history were amazing, the hotels were upscale and the bus transport was very good. We wish to recognize those who made our trip such a huge success: our tour guide Arvind Sharma was very knowledgeable, very well organized, respectful and gracious and very passionate about his country and his faith; our co-tour guide Hilal Ahmed was very kind and respectful, always upbeat and attentive to logistical details and making sure everyone was content; our driver Inder Jeet and his helper Ashout were so kind, prompt and alert to all our road travel needs; and our greeter Arshad Khan was very kind and helpful on arrival and departure at the Delhi airport; and finally Nazir, Mandira and staff in Vancouver and Mansoor and staff in India, thanks for your exceptional planning and arrangements. Your itinerary provided a large variety of things to see and do every day and some awesome sites to visit - the Taj Mahal and Ranthambore safari in particular were standouts. The people of India are very considerate, kind-hearted and pleasant and we were always respectfully greeted as esteemed guests and always felt safe in their midst. We had a great time and cannot identify anything material that needs to be improved. We already have and will continue to recommend Explore India to others interested in visiting India. Thanks to everyone at Explore India for such memorable experience! Brian and Mary Petovello, Calgary, Alberta.

Hi Nazir What can I say about our Journey of the Senses Feb 2016 trip to India except that it was exactly what we wanted to experience and more! Nazir took care of every detail to make the trip unforgettable. We were met at the airport on arrival in Delhi and Nazir even had a representative at the Mumbai airport at midnight for our return home flight to make sure our check in went smoothly. How caring is that! We never touched our suitcases. They were collected from us outside our hotel rooms and they magical appeared outside (or inside) our rooms at the next hotel. No lugging them around. They also were loaded and unloaded for our inter India flights. No standing at a carousel waiting for our luggage. How caring is that! We never had to stand in line at our hotels to check in. We arrived at the hotels and our room keys were handed to us. How nice! The hotels we stayed in were opulent and very beautiful. They are at least 5 stars or above! The meals were excellent!!!! Nazir took us to wonderful beautiful places for lunch and dinner. He made sure we experienced the best Indian food. He was very sensitive to people’s needs and wants so a few times he had menus of American food and Chinese food for us in case we were tired of Indian food. How caring is that! Nazir checked each day to see if everyone was happy and to see if there was anything he could do for each and every one of us to make our trip more enjoyable. There always was nothing more he could do!! He had done it all and everything ran like clockwork! We truly experienced the sights, sounds, smells, traffic, noise, constant horn blowing, cows in the streets, dogs and wonderful people of India. Nazir is very proud of his country and so he should be. It is truly an amazing place to visit. The pedicab ride through the streets of Old Delhi was unbelievable and exhilarating with all the chaos. Unforgettable! Varanasi was truly spiritual with the pouring rain on the Ganges as we witnessed the Aarti ceremony. Nazir worked his magic with the Indian gods and the rain stopped as we boarded our boats to see the ceremony!! What can we say about the Taj Mahal except that it truly is spectacular! The special lunch Nazir arranged for us overlooking the Taj Mahal was very special. Not many people get treated so well. A very memorable day! Our elephant ride was wonderful and our camel ride on the sand dunes in the evening was spectacular. Sitting around the campfire with the singing and dancing and a full moon and our delicious meal served there was something we won’t forget. Thank you, Nazir, for such a memorable trip. You were the consummate host! Our memories of our trip will be with us forever.

Hello Nazir, We loved our trip!!!. So sad to leave but ready to come home. We loved all our guides and drivers. We especially appreciated having the same driver for consecutive days (Suresh and Suki were our driving heroes!!!). Accommodations were fantastic. The professionalism and organization of everyone were outstanding. We felt well cared for in a foreign country. We were so happy to start in the south and be able to ease into India and then travel to the north. I cannot even begin to describe India to folks here. I loved seeing so much and on my next trip would love to stay longer in certain places. We loved Cochi and Munnar in the south. In The north Varanasi, Pushkar, Jodhpur, Deogarth, the walk thru recycling in Mumbai and dinner with a psychologist in Udaipur were highlights. Of course the temples, the forts and palaces were amazing. Our guides were so knowledgeable and informative. The history, religion, spirituality, politics all were so fascinating to learn about. The opportunities to walk and eat outside of hotels were wonderful I wish there had been more. It's actually hard to identify highlights as every day was full of new experiences ones that were easy and beautiful as well as those that were more difficult to experience. All created a unique experience and a glimpse at a unique country. I speak for all three of us in thanking you for creating such an amazing experience. It truly was! Namaste,

Hello Rajeev, Thank you for meeting us at the Delhi airport, for arranging some sightseeing tours on Day 1 and Day 2 (early arrival in New Delhi) prior to commencement of organized tour, for obtaining foreign exchange for the Canadian $ and for everything else that made our trip so enjoyable. The trip exceeded our expectations and we know that this is due mainly to the excellent service rendered in all fields of the tourist business. We wish you continued success and good luck in your role as Head of Operations at Explore India. Yours sincerely,

Thank you to Nazir, Manzoor, Raj, Ravi, Niraj and the many other drivers and people who all worked so hard to make ths dream a reality. We had an amazing 14 days in India and Nepal. We were very fortunate that Nazir suggested we take a direct Air Canada flight from Vancouver. We got to Delhi in just under 14 hours arriving on Thursday which gave us an extra 3 days there before joining the tour group on Sunday. During that time we saw the Lotus temple, the Akshardam Temple, the Lodhi gardens, the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi and the Qutb Minar as well as other temples and Mosques. These monuments together with seeing the Jama Mosque and the Chandni Chowk area on Suday were the highlight of our stay in Delhi, and suggest that these be included in all tours of the City. We also especially enjoyed our stay in the Suryaa Hotel, not just because of the wonderfull hospitality there, but also because it is located right in the heart of the local market. This gave us the chance to wander about getting to know how the locals live there without the distraction or the influx of tour buses. We also went to see the Nizamuddin Market and the Nizamuddin Dargah there, and had an awsome dinner at Karim’s on the day of our arrival. We were hoping to take part in the evening devotional music there, but that didn’t seem to work out. Maybe next time! There were many highlights throughtout this tour, not to distract from the Taj Mahal which was more stunning than I could have imagined when it first came into sight. All the accomodation, meals, transportation and the drivers, helpers and guides were all first class. Nepal was another high light, especially our stay in Nagarkot and the drive up there. Nires was a delight to have with us and very informative as was Ravi on our India leg of our journey. The only other suggestion I have here is that we would have liked to have arrived in Nagarkot early enough so that we would have had time to go on a short hike on the famous Panoramic Hiking trail I heard about. Over all I have no complaints and only good memories on our amazing journey in India and Nepal. What I would say in a short review, or you can post this entire e-mail if you want, are my comments below: This was a personal road trip Manzoor and Nazir would take their families on, Expect to expect the unexpected! You will be sirprized, delighted, amazed and even stunned, but never disappointed. Through out our journey eveything was so well thought out and perfectly executed. Thank you to everyone who worked so had to make this a trip of a lifetime. Our memories will be with us forever. Thank you so much. Rose and Jim

We have just returned home from the 10 days Explore India tour Magical India with unforgettable experiences and truly favorable memories. Any initial reservations or uncertainties related to travelling in such a mysterious land were quickly relieved after we received a surprise but welcoming and reassuring phone call while registering on arrival at our airport hotel in Delhi at 11:55 pm from Explore India's Head of Operations. Despite using our own travel plans to and from the tour, Explore India representatives continually provided full support to our individual travel plans right through to our arrival at the Delhi airport for our departure flight. Our tour guide was extremely effective in preparing our group with extensive historical and current information on all the amazing sites we visited. Despite travelling in a country well known for its chaos and unpredictabilities, the tour was extremely well organized and effectively delivered. Accommodations were consistently first class. Meals were of high quality, with an ample variety for all tastes. Transportation was first class with a fully modern bus operated by a skilled driver. All tours to the many amazing world-class venues were conducted with professional precision. Kudos to Nazir, Rajeev and Arvind of Explore India for providing us with an exceptionally favorable, and memorable travel experience.

An amazing experience......it exceeded my expectations. I am a seasoned world traveler and was so very impressed with this tour. Our guide Shah was incredibly informative and I loved listening to his stories about the culture and history of India. I came away feeling that I learned a lot about India....the real India.....and developed a genuine liking for the country and the Indian people. It was a “taste”.....I definitely want to go back and see more! Shah was always in tune to the group’s needs and was very accommodating.....he definitely made the trip a success. He was a true professional in every way. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Accommodations were first class...3 of us shared a room so a very comfortable cot was always set up.....however, at each hotel we had to call for extra towels, coffee mug, pillow etc......we were always served promptly....a minor inconvenience really. I was surprised at the pollution....a heads up might be helpful, as one may want to pack a mask. So many highlights.....of course the Taj Mahal and the Varanasi experience.....but I’ll never forget our tour of the government school and meeting the children, the kitchen at the Sikh temple was another highlight. I loved the safari and being in the rural area for a couple of days.....and of course our beloved bus bizarres..........so incredible. Thank you all! Cindy Henry.

Hi Nazir, Just to let you know Doris and I are home safe and sound, although both suffering from Jet Lag......What a trip - it was action-packed, full of adventure and beautiful. What a wonderous country and what fabulous people that are India. We had the great good fortune to meet Rajiv in New Delhi and to travel with Sandeep Singh for 16 days - never a dull moment and the first time we have been almost too busy to shop. We saw the sunrise from Tiger Hill and I have a video of Arrowhead, a beautiful female Bengal Tiger in Ranthambore. Sandeep was excellent, knowledgeable and kept everyone informed and on track. He had many issues to deal with that were not the norm, the devaluation of the 500 and 1000 rupee, the switch from Kashmir to Darjeeling and stayed on top of it all. Darjeeling was one of the highlights for both of us - what a trip and the people are fantastic - enjoyed the whole experience. The Hotels were all 5 star, food excellent for most (I have allergies, so stuck to mostly bland items), transportation was all great. The driver Mr. Singh and helper whom we called Baby Deep drove us from Delhi to Jaipur and back were really great - thanks to them also. The group that we traveled with were great - made many new friends and now share a common bond. Thank you to yourself, Mandira, Rajiv and especially Sandeep (for the 16 days he was our friend, guide and father). He truly loves his country, his people and sharing all his knowledge with his groups. A wonderful experience - Thank You

Now that you are back from India I wanted to thank you and Rajeev for the wonderful holiday that that you organized. I had high expectations but I can truly say that our expectations were exceeded throughout the holiday. The choice of hotels was fabulous as was the choice of cities and sites to visit. We will certainly plan another trip in the future as there is still so much to see in India and we will contact you again. Rajeev was very attentive following up with us almost every day and making sure everything went smoothly (which it did). The drivers and guides were great throughout the trip. I only have one small suggestion. Depending on your client's budget and available time, I would book one free day in some of the palace hotels just to enjoy the pools and gardens. The pace of the trip was great but I would have liked one more day at say Lake Palace or Umaid Bhawan Palace to enjoy the hotel itself. I have already recommended you to three other friends. Thanks again

No company is big or small when you have 100% capability of exceeding guest expectations. A rating of 10 out of 10 does not adequately reflect the level of the experience and value of the tour that we provide to India especially for the first time visitors. Explore India’s success can be traced all the way back to those early days of learning what it means to be a host and to this day, our motto is to treat the guest like a member of the family.
