Arrive Chennai – Mahabalipuram
Welcome to Incredible India! Upon your, at Chennai International airport you will meet your Explore India representative and transfer to Mahabalipuram.
The rest of the day is for you to spend at your leisure.
Chennai formerly known as Madras. Chennai boats of a long history from British East India Company, through the British rule to its evolution in the late 20th century. The city is a home to Fort St. George, which was built in 1644, the fort is now been converted into a museum showcasing the city’s roots as a British military garrison and East India Company trading post, this is when it was called Madras.

Day 4:
Mahabalipuram – Pondicherry
After breakfast, you will leave for Mahabalipuram for a day of sightseeing.
Mahabalipuram – It occupies a stunning position on a rocky outcrop between the beach and a lagoon. Built by the Pallava rulers in the seventh century, the complex is comprised of 14 cave temples, 9 monolithic “Rathas”, 3 stone temples and 2 relief sculptured rock panels. These two rock panels give a graphic description of Arjuna’s penance when he prayed for the powers of Shiva and forms the largest Bass Relief in the world. Particularly of interest is the shore temple built on the water’s edge with an east-facing altar designed to catch the rising Sun. This has now been declared a World Heritage Site.
Later, drive to Pondicherry (or Puducheri) meaning ’the new settlement’. It was a French settlement comprising of Karaikal, Mahe, and Yanam besides Pondicherry. A unique fact about Pondicherry is that it spreads into several states. Upon arrival check in to your hotel.

Day 5:
Pondicherry
After breakfast, proceed for a sightseeing tour of Pondicherry. Pondicherry covers the Sri Aurobindo which grew out of a small community where Sri Aurobindo lived for the most parts of his life in the nearby Vinayagar temple which was later dedicated to Lord Ganesha
Later, take a Cycle Rickshaw Ride through the streets of Pondicherry and sign off the day with a stroll through the 1.5 Km long Promenade Beach.

Day 6:
Pondicherry - Tanjore
After breakfast, you will transfer to Tanjore with a visit to Chidambaram on the way. Chidambaram is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. You will explore the beautiful temple prior to arriving in Thanjavur. Continue on to Thanjavur.
Thanjavur is an important center of South Indian religion, art, and architecture. Most of the great living Chola temples are UNESCO World Heritage monuments. Thanjavur is also home to a unique style of paintings which are related to the religion. You will discover this ancient city which has a history of more than 1200 years.

Day 7:
Tanjore – Chettinad
Enjoy a morning city sightseeing tour of Tanjore which was the capital of the Chola Empire from the tenth to the fourteenth centuries. A Chola king held the throne from 985 to 1016, built the greatest of the empire’s 74 temples, the Brahadeeswarar, with its soaring tower over the inner sanctum. This tower rises more than 62 meters (200 feet) and on its dome rests a single block of granite weighing 80 tons.
Later, continue on to Chettinad. Check in to a hotel at Chettinad.In the afternoon enjoy a local tour of the famous fortress and temples that are architectural marvels in Chettinad. This rural town houses many stylish heritage homes, which took years to build, and has courtyards, halls, and corridors that are quiet, cool and beautifully decorated with intricate artwork, Burmese teak, and Italian marble.
Later in the afternoon see local artisans in the weaving center and experience the art of clay tile making where local ladies and men still practice the age-old weaving techniques.

Day 8:
Chettinad - Madurai
After an early breakfast, proceed for a bullock cart ride, a unique experience. Time for a “selfie” with the milky white bulls and their master.
Later, continue driving to Madurai on arrival check-in at hotel
In the evening visit the Meenakshi temple to attend a ceremony where the marriage of Meenakshi ( Parvati ) and Sundareshwara (Lord Shiva) is solemnized.

Day 9:
Madurai
After breakfast, proceed for a sightseeing tour. You will visit the Meenakshi Temple. Evidence of the temple has been found dating back from early A.D. The temple was almost completely destroyed in the year 1310 following the invasion of the Islamic conqueror Malikkapur. As kings who were followers of Islam were noted for their intolerance towards other religions, the invaders destroyed most of the ancient sculptures of the temple.

After breakfast, we will leave for Munnar. a breathtakingly beautiful place of peace and tranquility. A gateway to the South of India, Munnar was the favored summer resort area of British rulers in the colonial days. On the way, you will also witness the stunning waterfalls in Cheeyappara. Day 11:
Munnar
After breakfast, discover Munnar. This hill station was once the summer resort of the British Government in South India. Visit the sprawling tea plantations, picture-book towns, winding lanes and holiday facilities make this a popular resort town. Among the exotic flora found in the forests and grasslands here is the Neelakurinji. This flower which bathes the hills in blue once in every twelve years will bloom next in 2018. Munnar also has the highest peak in South India, Anamudi, which towers over 2,695 m. Anamudi is an ideal spot for trekking.

Day 12:
Munnar – Periyar
In the morning we leave for Thekkady. Upon arrival, we check –in at the hotel.
In the afternoon you will enjoy a boat ride at Lake Periyar where you will also be able to view the wildlife.
Traveling by boat on the lake is the usual way of touring the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Situated in the Thekkady district of Tamil Nadu bordering with Kerala, Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary is one of the most important and frequently visited areas in India. It conveniently falls between journeys from different parts of Tamil Nadu to important tourist destinations in Kerala. Trips along the large artificial lake surrounded by dense forests are by itself value for money besides offering the opportunity to view wildlife especially elephants, wild boar, sambar, etc.
In the afternoon we will proceed for a spice plantation visit. A walk through the plantation opens up a vista of pristine greenery shrouded by low hanging clouds, gurgling brooks and a pale shadow of the Western Ghats in the backdrop. Later you will be taken on tour covering cardamom, pepper, rubber, vanilla, coffee and tea plantations. The most abundantly found spice in Thekkady is pepper, but you will also see a variety of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, turmeric and curry leaves on the slanting slopes of the spice plantation. You will have an opportunity to spice shop and be able to prepare delectable Indian cuisine back home.

Periyar - Alleppey
After an early breakfast, we will leave for Alleppey to board Kettuvallam (Houseboat) for cruising on backwaters.
The backwaters of Kerala is a stunning feature that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. A glide in a “Kettuvallam” (Houseboat) through the enchanting backwaters is sure to be a memorable experience. It is as though you are another world, a world so quiet and serene that you never want to step on a dry land again. You will see the swaying brush which is the backdrop of the sparkling emerald greens backwaters. The magical beauty will steal your heart and heal your mind and body.

Day 14:
Alleppey - Cochin
Around 0900hrs disembark from the houseboat in Alleppey and proceed for Cochin, the “Queen of the Arabian Sea” is one of the most interesting cities in India and has one of the finest natural harbors in the world.
On the way visit Kumbalangi Village. Kumbalangi is a village located 13 kilometers away from Cochin and is identified as the first model fisheries and tourism village in India. On arrival at the village, we will board a country boat where you get the best views of village life you may see a local woman tending to her shop, a farmer in his paddy field, or a fisherman spreading his net. After a tour of the village, we will stop for lunch.
After lunch, we take an entertaining ‘tuk-tuk’ ride through the narrow country roads back to our transportation spot. We will head back to the hotel where you can have a leisurely afternoon of relaxing or you may want to head out to do some shopping if you so wish.

Day 15:
Cochin
After a leisurely breakfast, we will discover Cochin. We will visit different sites today such as the Paradesi Synagogue, Dutch Palace, and the St. Francis Church. This church was built in 1510 by friars brought to India by Vasco da Gama and was the first European church built in India.
In the evening we will be entertained at the Greenix Show. The Greenix show is a kaleidoscope of Indian classical art forms and martial arts. Showcasing magnificent vignettes of Kerala’s rich cultural traditions, Kaleidoscope Kerala is an exclusive, uniquely choreographed repertoire of live classical dance and music. I never use travel agents, taking great pride in thinking I do a better job and I certainly hate group tours. However, when I decided to take my daughter to India, I felt that perhaps, just this time, it might be wise to seek professional help. I researched several tour companies and was about to book a bus tour accomodating up to 30 passengers, when I noticed Nazir's ad in the Vancovuer Sun. I telephoned and instantly took to this delightful man. His no pressure approach was certainly appreciated and I quickly realized he was an expert on India. To my delight, I also discovered his private tour for just my daughter and I, in a private car, in 5 star hotels vs the student type accomodations offered by GAP tours, was just a few hundred $ more than their huge group tour. We then began our planning which would drive most agents mad, with me hopping all over Rajastan now that I could pick my own itinery. After numerous changes, we were finally on our way. Nazir arranged the very best seat in economy on British Airways. The hotels were fabulous, the drivers and tour guides represented all of the various cultural groups of India. We were impressed to see Sikhs, Muslims, and Hindus all working harmoniously together. They could teach the world a lesson. I must admit, I am a high maintainence client and had several demands, all of which Nazir completed graciously and efficiently. He phoned us along the way to ensure all was well and no demand was too much for him. I would and have, recommended Nazir to everyone and anyone. It was a trip of a lifetime and Nazir made it so.

Hello Nazir, We loved our trip!!!. So sad to leave but ready to come home. We loved all our guides and drivers. We especially appreciated having the same driver for consecutive days (Suresh and Suki were our driving heroes!!!). Accommodations were fantastic. The professionalism and organization of everyone were outstanding. We felt well cared for in a foreign country. We were so happy to start in the south and be able to ease into India and then travel to the north. I cannot even begin to describe India to folks here. I loved seeing so much and on my next trip would love to stay longer in certain places. We loved Cochi and Munnar in the south. In The north Varanasi, Pushkar, Jodhpur, Deogarth, the walk thru recycling in Mumbai and dinner with a psychologist in Udaipur were highlights. Of course the temples, the forts and palaces were amazing. Our guides were so knowledgeable and informative. The history, religion, spirituality, politics all were so fascinating to learn about. The opportunities to walk and eat outside of hotels were wonderful I wish there had been more. It's actually hard to identify highlights as every day was full of new experiences ones that were easy and beautiful as well as those that were more difficult to experience. All created a unique experience and a glimpse at a unique country. I speak for all three of us in thanking you for creating such an amazing experience. It truly was! Namaste,

Hello Nazir. Thank you for the “Welcome Home” greeting! Our tour certainly met and at times even exceeded our expectations! Some key points: -Our Explore India contact Rajeev Sharma was very professional at handling all those questions that are asked at the beginning of the tour. -Our guide Arvind Sharma was very knowledgeable, and always approachable. He was always prompt and was very passionate in describing the many rituals that happen in India. -Our driver (Ravi) and his assistant (Shankur) were always courteous and caring and always greeted us with smiles every time we returned to the bus. -Our hotels were definitely acceptable and there were 3 hotels that in our minds were exceptional: 1. The Leela Ambience. 2. The Tigress Ranthambore and 3. The Pride Plaza Aerocity. Namaste, and thanks for the email Nazir. My husband and I are still under the powerful influence of India – having thoroughly enjoyed the 2 weeks we had there. It’s really difficult to synthesize our experience but I will try to give some feedback. Both of us felt that we learned so much and really broadened our understanding of cultural and political issues in addition to seeing, tasting, smelling, and tasting some of India’s diversity. I really appreciated the diverse environments: urban, heritage sites, forest reserve, streets/river exposure in Varanasi, the roadside rural life viewed as we traveled between major sites. I’m especially glad that we added on the Varanasi trip which broadened our experience considerably. We were ever so fortunate in the timing (just after the monsoon season) and got to see a relatively ‘green’ India. Several local guides commented that we were a ‘lucky’ group in terms of being in the right places at the right times for certain things – such as seeing tigers, getting to the Taj Mahal just prior to its ‘mudding’. The tour itinerary was well planned and varied – given that any group of 22 people will have different preferences. We found our tour guide to be excellent: knowledgeable, flexible, and always anticipating when/where changes might be needed either for our comfort or safety. Many thanks for that. And he was ever so patient in spite of challenging situations. I’m a cautious traveller (in contrast to my husband) but even I felt very safe. Our guide was extremely good at keeping us together while also allowing plenty of photo ops, cooling down periods, and preparing us for the next point of interest. The tour guide was very good with history and cultural information that made the bus travel time both informative and seem shorter. All contacts were very friendly, courteous, and helpful. One hardly mentioned an issue and it was addressed; To summarize, the trip was amazing! We are so very glad we went and still bask in India’s glow. Hello Nazir, Thank you for following up with us re: our tour in India. Mike said he spoke with your recently. We had a wonderful time in India. Sandeep was a very knowledgeable and respectful tour guide. The bus drivers were amazing. The food was delicious, with plenty of choice. The accommodation was really excellent, with one exception in Varanasi, however that turned out just fine too. We were well taken care of by everyone involved in the tour. India is an amazing country. Your tour was truly incredible and we would recommend it in a heartbeat. Thank you for being so kind in handling all my questions, concerns, etc. before the trip! Dear Nazir, We are home safe and sound and had an absolutely wonderful time. Everything went so smoothly and the four of us just enjoyed it all. Everything was so exciting and so different. The hotels were mostly wonderful. Varanasi was probably the least best and even it was OK. The others were really good. Arvind was a terrific guide. He was so knowledgeable and kind and took such wonderful care of us. We really enjoyed him. We always felt safe and comfortable. We even saw a tiger that stayed with us for about 45 minutes. We loved India and have such wonderful memories to keep. I understand that my best girlfriend and her husband from Israel are now booked to do this same trip. She told me that the blog I sent convinced her. She said if I did it then she could do it too. Thank you very much,

First of all a big thank you to you and your team in India for an excellent tour. It was most enjoyable. We would like to mention Rajeev and Yajur in particular. Rajeev was very welcoming and friendly and Yajur was an excellent and very knowledgeable tour guide. Kashmir was very interesting and beautiful - Bashir was very accommodating and we appreciated you calling him periodically to check that our trip was proceeding well. We would definitely recommend Kashmir to friends planning a trip to India. What we really appreciated was the diversity provided whether it be the food (we did go to some excellent restaurants), the monuments that we visited, the rickshaw ride in old Delhi and the nature of Ranthambore NP. The hotels were generally excellent particularly in Srinagar, Agra and Jaipur. Ranthambore was a bit on the rustic side but the setting was good and very close to the park entrance. There was no mix up with bags, and timing and transport coordination was excellent. One thing we really did appreciate was time to relax and have some down time at the hotels.

Hello, Nazir! Tonight we will be leaving India for Canada and both Hans and I want to thank you personally and your team in India for a marvelous time here. It has been a trip that we will never forget having seen such interesting places in India and having been witness to a totally different and very interesting land and culture compared to the one we know back home. We understand now why you are so passionate about your motherland and its people. We will not forget the people here, the smiles of school children and others, their warmth, kindness, sincerity and hospitality. How we enjoyed all of the excursions and we were so lucky and took delight in seeing a mother tiger and her three cubs along with riding an elephant at Red Fort in Jaipur! We enjoyed your local guides here very much and our guide throughout the trip Ashish. What a wonderful man, humorous, entertaining and knowledgeable! Your team leader in Delhi Rajeev has also been very supportive and kind as well and of course nameste to the many other players such as our amazing bus driver, his helper and your drivers to get us back and forth to the airport etc. as they have been exemplary! We were so well received and taken care of! Thank you also for the upgrade to The Grand New Delhi Hotel for our final days as it was not expected. It is very beautiful here and has allowed us time to rest before our departure home. We have come away with new friends too having met other Canadians on this visit, with whom we enjoyed many laughs!
