Overview
Varanasi, formerly known as Benares is the oldest living city in India and home to one of the most time-honoured, mysterious cultures in the world. In India, a land besotted with spiritual matters, there is no holier a place than Varanasi. Along the river Ganges, believed by most Hindus to be the most sacred of waterways, you will witness the rituals of the people as they offer their obeisance to the sun or ‘puja’ at the first light of day and the cremation rituals at night. Death is not seen as morbid here, rather, a journey from the physical to the non-physical. Varanasi is also associated with Buddha in that this is where the great teacher delivered his first message to his followers.

Day 2:
Varanasi
A memorable day ahead as we leave early in the morning to board our boat for a ride along the Ganges to see the bathing Ghats (river bank) & cremation site. We will watch the sunrise on the riverfront from a boat which can be a moving spiritual experience as you witness the worship and sites along the river. Life on the Ghats is bound by an endless string of rituals and the ever-changing aspects of the river and the wide landscapes throughout the area have fascinated visitors from all over the world. You will become entranced by the sights and sounds of those worshipping in this amazingly beautiful, mysterious, and ancient place. We will also visit Mother Teresa’s missionary before returning to the hotel for breakfast.
In the afternoon, we enjoy a guided excursion to Sarnath, a centre of Buddhist learning and the buried Buddhist city where Buddha preached his first sermon. After attaining enlightenment at Bodh Gaya, the Buddha went to Sarnath and it was here that he preached his first discourse in the deer park and set in motion the ‘Wheel of the Dharma’. It is one of the most holy sites because it is believed that in this place the stream of the Buddha’s teaching first flowed. Sarnath was a renowned school of learning from the 16th century BC to the 12th century AD. Visit the ruins, the stupa, the Buddhist temple & the museum. See the Ashok Pillar at the museum with its four guardian lions, now the national emblem to acknowledge India’s independence.

Hi Nazir, We came home safely and the trip was great, I phoned you the next day want to tell you we enjoy the India trip but you weren't in the office. We also emailed to Ashish Khurana your local tourist guard and special thanks for his effort to take care of us all the way and we also ask him to say special thanks to Rajeev Shaarma he is a great leader to look after us from city to city. This trip really opened my eyes to understand India, they are a great nation during this money currency crisis, each bank lots people line up but no fighting. Again my wife and I thanks very much for your arrangement, hope to see you for any future trips. May we wish you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year.

My wife and I recently returned from a 24 day trip to India, organized by Nazir Karnai. Nazir spent considerable time consulting with us prior to our trip in order to fine tune travel plans that would suit our preferences. Fortunately we relied heavily on his advice and, as a global statement, our trip was fantastic. We had a car, driver and guide throughout our trip and several internal flights in India. Attention to detail was the hallmark of Nazir’s organization and we quickly came to rely on the reliability, competence and friendliness of all Explore India personnel. From the outset we were pleasantly surprised by the luxury of the hotels organized by Nazir. The hotels were all spectacular, with the Taj Lake Palace Hotel in Udaipur truly world class. We consider ourselves fortunate to have chosen Nazir and Explore India to organize our travel to India and we would give him our highest recommendation. Sincerely

Hello Nazir. Thank you for the “Welcome Home” greeting! Our tour certainly met and at times even exceeded our expectations! Some key points: -Our Explore India contact Rajeev Sharma was very professional at handling all those questions that are asked at the beginning of the tour. -Our guide Arvind Sharma was very knowledgeable, and always approachable. He was always prompt and was very passionate in describing the many rituals that happen in India. -Our driver (Ravi) and his assistant (Shankur) were always courteous and caring and always greeted us with smiles every time we returned to the bus. -Our hotels were definitely acceptable and there were 3 hotels that in our minds were exceptional: 1. The Leela Ambience. 2. The Tigress Ranthambore and 3. The Pride Plaza Aerocity. In summary, both Alan and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Explore India and would have no hesitation at all in recommending this tour to others. Sincerely,

Hi Nazir, just a note to tell you how much we have enjoyed our India trip. We are now back home after the long travel back and we are looking forward to revisiting again and again India looking at our 1900 photos. This was truly a Journey of the Senses, you could not have chosen a more perfect name for this tour. All went well, we really appreciated our guide Yajur’s attention to every details and his vast knowledge of India’s history, monuments and way of life. Thank you for organizing such an excellent tour.

We are back in Canada now, safe and sound! Denise and I would like to thank you both for organizing and managing a wonderful trip. We had high hopes at the start, and they were exceeded! The basic layout of the trip and then the detailed management made this a fabulous and exciting adventure. Thanks to the two drivers Resham and Ranji who were wonderful. Driving in India can be a bit exciting or, at worst very fatiguing, but the always smoothed things out, making the long and short trips comfortable and interesting. Many of the guides were excellent, with deep knowledge, and fascinating insights. In particular, we enjoyed our time with Suresh in Agra who always went the extra mile, Harsh in Udaipur who taught us so many things and then put them together, and even the "Professor" Jha Raji in Varanasi, who gave us an introduction to a whole new world for us. The guides in Dharavi, the tea plantation , and spice plantations were very interesting. We saw many wonderful things and had a great introduction to a fascinating country; Denise even got interested in cricket! Please keep in touch. We'll be thinking about next year. Bahut dhanyavaad

Namaste We had an amazing experience travelling through India and as always we wish we had more time there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Darjeeling. Our guide Sandeep was a jewel, such a wealth of knowledge. I don't think the trip would have been such a success had it not been for him. Many of us on the tour discussed coming back to travel to the south of India next time and possibly spending more time in some places, maybe even a few days to relax on the beach, possibly Goa? Also, Sandeep felt we would very much enjoy seeing Udaipur so maybe that could be included. Also, speaking for myself and Randy, maybe you could offer an optional tour to the Maldives as we would like to go there, even if it was just for 4-5 days. I know you offer a tour on your website for the south but why don't you send out an email to everyone that was on this tour asking what interest they may have for seeing the south and maybe based on the responses you can put together a more customized tour. Of course, Sandeep will have to be the guide and he did say he would do it. We talked about late Oct, early Nov 2018, that seemed to work for everyone. Again, thank you to all your staff who helped organize and coordinate this trip. They did a great job. Best regards

After being home for about 3 weeks now, recovered from the incredible jetlag (how do you do it, going back and forth so often??), and having dug myself out from under at the office, I feel I must write to you and thank you for the absolutely wonderful and amazing trip. For me it was a dream come true, having been fascinated with India since I was about 12. It was more, so much more than I ever imagined! The incredible art and opulence of the palaces, the history, the temples, and the people who work so hard and yet are so open and welcoming - you made it all come to life ….. What an incredible place!!! People ask what I liked best about the trip – a question I can’t answer. The Taj Mahal, of course, stands out, but all the special arrangements you made everywhere, the organization of it all, the private gala dinners, the incredible palaces we stayed in, the shikara ride, the special experiences like the Bollywood Movie and Elephant Polo (!), all of it - unforgettable! Not to mention the welcome and attention we received from everyone, from the tour guides to your and Nazir’s family ….. it was all amazing, and I thank you for making India real for me in such a special way J. Sanjay – I look forward to seeing you in our offices soon so that I can make good on that offer for lunch at Nota Bene! All the best, and thank you all again.

greeting and saying goodbye was also excellent. Our group of 19 was so manageable that we got extra treats of walking the backstreets of Varanasi and extra rickshaw. I can't tell you in words how much I saw nor its effect on me. I now know more of India and have a deep respect for the people culture and their respect for their heritage. Thank you for this memorable adventure. Yours truly
